JUNE 22nd - Marcelle
A musical concept lead by Marcelle (Lead Vocalist). The original musical design started in 1993 with the group known as "EN TOUCH." Performing throughout Northern California the group took a hiatus from the Sacramento and San Francisco music scene.
Together now in collaboration with, Robert Monteleone Eberhart (Composer/Keyboards) of Symposium! Marcelle is simple with a very big sound. Still maintaining their truly distinctive instrumental and vocal styling, this ensemble has once again created an intimate listening atmosphere perfect for any and all sophisticated settings and venues.
Based in the Sacramento Area, the group performs throughout Sacramento. "Marcelle" plays a rich and eclectic mix of smooth contemporary and Jazz standards. The combination between sultry vocal tones, incredibly seasoned musicianship, and musical chemistry…
”Marcelle” is a must-hear listening experience.
JULY 13TH - THE FREEBADGE SERENADERS
This duo featuring a banjo, a washboard and plenty of kazoo accompaniment is amusing and entertaining on that alone, but these two guys would be hilarious even without the bells and (slide) whistles. Greg Sabin on banjo and kazoo and Patrick Skiffington on washboard/bells/slide whistle and kazoo play off each other like a vaudevillian comedy team while performing great songs by the likes of Johnny Mercer and Fats Waller or even a few clever ditties of their own. The song "Sacramento, CA USA" is just about the funniest song anyone has ever written about their hometown.
JULY 27TH - THE KNOCKOUTS
The Knockouts are an act living up to their name as a knockout trio of performers. Vocalist Natalie Klempau, who has been singing nearly her whole life, brings her experience in musical theater to the trio through great interpretations of so many beloved standards. Paul Klempau is one of the most active bass players in the Sacramento region; sitting in with all the best players in town as well as creating quite a list of credits in the greater musical community. On guitar is the incredible Arlyn Anderson, who not only brings his smooth jazz stylings to The Speakeasy Series with the Knockouts, but will also return with his duo on September 27.
This trio has been performing together for over two years now and are having a lot of fun playing an eclectic mix of jazz and popular tunes while working to create their own unique sound.
SEPTEMBER 27TH: THE ARLYN ANDERSON DUO
Arlyn Anderson is a jazz guitarist whose smooth, yet swingy style virtually intoxicates the listener with his soulful interpretations of great standards such as "Night and Day," "Autumn Leaves," and "Girl From Ipanema" (all of which are graciously available to hear on his website).
Arlyn performs in the trio The Knockouts (who are playing the Speakeasy Series on July 27), as well as in The Arlyn Anderson Quintet, The Arlyn Anderson Quartet, and the Arlyn Anderson Trio.... But for the Speakeasy Series we get the very intimate Arlyn Anderson Duo! A treat to be certain.
